Backstory:
Formed in the small coastal town of Brighton, England, Distant Excuse is the brainchild of high school friends Pete Hammond (vocals/guitar) and Nick Stuart (drums). The duo spent countless hours in Pete’s garage, feeding off each other’s creativity, and nurturing their shared dream of making it big in the music industry. After the addition of fellow Brightonians, Sam Evans (bass) and Chris White (keyboards), Distant Excuse started to make waves on the local music scene. Their reputation for energetic performances and emotionally charged, introspective lyrics quickly spread, leading to sold-out gigs across the UK.

“Strangers in Shadows”
Full song lyrics:
(Verse 1)
C#m E
Morning breaks, it’s still dark outside,
A B
I reach out for the light you hide.
C#m E
Echoes of laughter, silent cries,
A B
Are we just strangers in shadows, in disguise?
(Chorus)
E B
Under the city lights, we find our truth,
C#m A
In the corners of the night, I find you.
E B
In the dance of shadows, love anew,
C#m A
Are we just strangers, or are we just two?
(Verse 2)
C#m E
Memories etched, in the sands of time,
A B
Does your heart still beat to the rhythm of mine?
C#m E
In the kaleidoscope of city nights,
A B
Are we just strangers in shadows, lost in lights?
(Repeat Chorus)
(Bridge)
F#m D
In the realms of dreams, we unfold,
G E
In the dance of shadows, stories untold.
F#m D
In the echoes of the heart, secrets hold,
G E
Are we just strangers in shadows, love untold?
(Repeat Chorus and Fade)
