Distant Hearing

Backstory:
Formed in the heart of Austin, Texas, ‘Distant Hearing’ started as an acoustic duo in 2010. Childhood friends, James “Jimmy” Bailey and Richard “Richie” Harris, were living in an apartment complex, working day jobs, and playing music in their free time. One day, during one of their jam sessions, a neighbor dropped by and applauded their sound. The neighbor happened to be a small-time producer and offered them an opportunity to record some tracks. With this stroke of serendipity, the duo decided to take a leap of faith. They quit their jobs, dedicated themselves full-time to music, and became ‘Distant Hearing’.

Their first album, released in 2013, was a mishmash of their life experiences and influences, spanning various genres. Since then, the band has evolved its sound, remaining true to their roots while incorporating contemporary elements. ‘Distant Hearing’ has become a well-recognized name in the indie music scene, known for their authentic lyrics and raw, visceral performances.

Title:
“Echoes in the Wind”

Full song lyrics:

[Verse 1]
G C
Beneath the starry sky, under the old pine,
Em D
We shared tales of yesteryears, we crossed the line.
G C
Your laughter, your tears, your whispers so kind,
Em D
Are now echoes in the wind, traces hard to find.

[Chorus]
C G
Echoes in the wind, keep calling me back,
D Em
To the place we used to be, our love, no lack.
C G
But the seasons have changed, so has the track,
D Em
Still, echoes in the wind, you’re my flashback.

[Verse 2]
G C
I see your shadow, in the corners of my mind,
Em D
In our old haunts, but you, I can’t find.
G C
Your voice, your touch, the way you unwind,
Em D
Are now echoes in the wind, memories intertwined.

[Chorus]
C G
Echoes in the wind, keep calling me home,
D Em
To the love we used to share, in the city’s chrome.
C G
But the stars have shifted, as has the dome,
D Em
Still, echoes in the wind, you’re my poem.

Testimonial:
“Maggie here, a die-hard fan of ‘Distant Hearing’ since their first album. Their music is like a comforting blanket, wrapping around me in my darkest days. They speak the truths of life, love, and loss in a way that resonates with me. Jimmy and Richie aren’t just musicians, they’re poets, storytellers. Each song is a journey, a narrative that hits me right in the feels. ‘Echoes in the Wind’, for instance, captures the yearning and nostalgia perfectly. There’s sincerity in their music that’s hard to find nowadays. ‘Distant Hearing’ isn’t just my favorite band, they’re my solace, my confidantes, my love.”
