Backstory:
Equal Question was born from the ashes of a series of jam sessions between college roommates, Luke Chandler and Noah James, during their years at the University of California, Berkeley. As passionate fans of indie and alternative rock, they began writing songs together as a creative outlet from their rigorous academic schedules. After graduation, they decided to take things more seriously and moved to Los Angeles, where they met drummer, Oliver Ross, and bassist, Zoe Smith, who completed the lineup. The band has since been known for their thought-provoking lyrics and soulful melodies, gaining a cult following within the indie community.

Title:
“Parallel Lines”
Full Song Lyrics:
Verse 1:
[G] Walking down the [Em] same old road
[C] But we’re not in the [D] same mind
[G] Always trying to [Em] decode
[C] What we can’t seem [D] to find
Chorus:
[C] Parallel lines, [Am] we don’t intersect
[G] Different roads but [D] same effect
[C] We keep spinning in [Am] our own directions
[G] Just missing connection, [D] a reflection of our affections
Verse 2:
[G] Can’t seem to [Em] make it right
[C] When we’re always [D] seeing different sights
[G] Like two stars [Em] in the night
[C] Forever apart, [D] despite the light
Chorus:
[C] Parallel lines, [Am] we never meet
[G] Echoing sounds that [D] never greet
[C] We keep spinning in [Am] our separate spheres
[G] Just missing connection, [D] lost in the years

They’ve made me feel understood in a way that no other band has. “Parallel Lines” is a personal favorite. It’s a beautiful song that speaks about missed connections, something I deeply resonate with.
