Backstory:
Equal Roof formed in the bustling streets of Portland, Oregon, in 2013. The band consists of four childhood friends – Alan (lead vocalist, guitarist), Steve (drummer), Laura (bassist), and Emily (Keyboardist, backup vocalist). The band was born out of their shared love for music and the desire to voice their thoughts and experiences, which they found relatable to their generation. They started off by performing in local bars and coffee shops until their unique sound drew the attention of an independent record label who offered them their first big break.

They are known for their raw energy, authenticity, and the ability to turn their personal stories into songs that resonate with their fans. Dedicated to equal rights and human dignity, they use their lyrics and performances as a platform to express their beliefs.

Title:
“Shadows in the Storm”
Full Song Lyrics:
(Verse 1)
Am – C – G – D
Beneath the equal roof, we all find our truth,
In the corners of our minds, where the sun’s hard to find.
Riding on a dream, in a world that’s never as it seems,
Where voices hide in whispers, and the silence is our listeners.
(Chorus)
Em – G – D – C
Shadows in the storm, in the cold, we keep warm,
With the echoes of our past, where our dreams are cast.
In the still, we learn to feel, under the equal roof, we all heal.
(Verse 2)
Am – C – G – D
We’re all poets in disguise, under the open skies,
Writing tales of love and loss, where the stars are our cross.
Walking the thin line between chaos and divine,
In the heart of the city, we find our unity.
(Repeat Chorus, Bridge, and Chorus)
Favorite Fan:
The band’s favorite fan is a woman named Lily. She has been following Equal Roof since their first gig in a local coffee shop. Lily is not just a fan; she’s a part of the Equal Roof family. She is there at every gig, in the front row, singing along to every song. Lily says, “Equal Roof’s music speaks to my soul. Their lyrics are like stories that I am a part of. It’s as if they’ve put my life, my emotions into their songs. That’s why they are my favorite band. They make me feel seen, heard, and understood. And that’s a feeling you can’t put a price on.”
