Exhausted Idea

Backstory:

Exhausted Idea is a band of music enthusiasts brought together by fate in Brooklyn, New York. Each member was navigating their own path in a small-time job, suppressing their passion for music under the burdens of life until one rainy night at an open-mic event, they found their harmony. The founder, Thom, a record store clerk, invited the others – Matt, a bartender; Kate, a bookstore employee; and Alex, a street artist – to join him in creating a sound that reflects their shared love for music and their struggles. The band was born in that cramped apartment above a Greek diner, hence the moniker, ‘Exhausted Idea’, a nod to their wearied but persistent hope in the face of life’s challenges.

In the years following, Exhausted Idea has risen from the obscurity of local bar performances to touring nationally and bagging several prestigious indie music awards. Their songs, torchbearers of their journey, are a melange of their personal trials, victories, heartaches, and joys, quickly resonating with listeners and turning them into ardent fans.

Song Title:

‘Broken Star’

Full Song Lyrics:

(Verse 1)
Em G
Riding the wave of a broken star,
C D
Lost in the echo of a lonely heart.
Em G
Chasing shadows in the twilight’s scar,
C D
With dreams as fragile as a glass jar.

(Chorus)
G D
We are the voices of the weary night,
Em C
The Exhausted Idea in the dim starlight.
G D
Bound by melodies of an eternal fight,
Em C
We are the children of the endless night.

(Verse 2)
Em G
Holding on to the shadows of the past,
C D
Weaving dreams that were never meant to last.
Em G
In the echo of a love forever cast,
C D
We find the strength to hold the mast.

(Chorus)
G D
We are the whispers in the moonlight’s glow,
Em C
The Exhausted Idea against the wind’s blow.
G D
Bound by the rhythm of the ebb and flow,
Em C
We are the echoes of the sun’s bow.

The band’s favorite fan:

The band’s favorite fan is 19-year-old Tamara Williams from Texas. Tamara fell in love with the band when she randomly stumbled across ‘Broken Star’ on the internet. The lyrics resonated with her personal struggles, and she found solace in their music. She says, “Exhausted Idea is my lifeline. Their music is like therapy for me. It’s raw and real. You can feel their struggles, their victory in every note they play, every word they sing. They give me hope, remind me that I’m not alone. Without them, my life would be a lot duller. They’re not just a band to me. They’re the friends I never met but always had.”
