Expensive Cord

Backstory:
Expensive Cord was founded in the vibrant city of New Orleans, Louisiana, in 2008. They were a group of childhood friends – Michael ‘Mikey’ Sanders, Vincent ‘Vinny’ Delgado, and sisters Lisa and Sarah Jackson. They grew up in the same neighborhood, sharing a passion for music. Their shared dreams, passion, and complementary musical abilities led to the creation of the band. Their initial performances were limited to high school talent shows and local pubs, but their soulful renditions soon resonated with a broader audience, leading to their breakthrough.

In 2012, Expensive Cord released their debut album, gaining substantial recognition and popularity. What followed was a whirlwind of touring, recording, and building a devout fan base. Their music, deeply rooted in their New Orleans upbringing, had a unique flavor that set them apart. Despite their success, the band remains grounded and connected to their roots, often returning to their hometown for impromptu performances at their favorite local pubs.

Title:
“Velvet Chains”

Full Song Lyrics:
(Verse 1)
Cmaj7
Underneath the sizzling sun, in the heart of the Crescent City,
B7
We walked the line, hand in hand, lost in a melody so pretty.
Em7
Your eyes held a promise, your laughter a song,
Am7
In the rhythm of the night, where we belong.

(Chorus)
Fmaj7
Velvet Chains, in the soft moonlight,
G7
Tangled in the sweet symphony of the night.
Cmaj7
Velvet Chains, in a lullaby,
Am7
In the echo of your heartbeat, beneath the night sky.

(Verse 2)
Cmaj7
Down the alley, by the bayou, under the wisteria vine,
B7
We danced to the tune of whispers, sipped on summer wine.
Em7
Your touch was a sonnet, your voice a serenade,
Am7
In the rhythm of the heartbeats that we made.

(Chorus)
Fmaj7
Velvet Chains, in the soft twilight,
G7
Tangled in the sweet symphony of the night.
Cmaj7
Velvet Chains, in a lullaby,
Am7
In the echo of your heartbeat, beneath the midnight sky.

“Expensive Cord is more than just a band to me; it is an experience, a feeling, a connection. The first time I heard ‘Velvet Chains,’ it was like discovering a part of myself I didn’t know existed. Their music, with its heartfelt lyrics and soulful rhythm, resonates with me on a deep level. The way they blend the blues with rock gives their songs an edge and depth that I haven’t found in any other band. As a native of New Orleans, their music takes me back to my hometown every time I listen to it. It is safe to say; Expensive Cord is a piece of my heart.”
