Formed in the backdrop of the buzzing New York City music scene in 2012, Feminine Declaration began as a powerful collaboration between childhood friends Laura Stevens and Samantha Meyers. The duo, initially just dabbling in songwriting and casual jam sessions, soon found a unique chemistry that led to the creation of a sound that was distinctly their own. Their music quickly caught local attention, leading to the expansion of the band with the addition of bassist Michelle Chen and drummer Eliza Thompson. The band’s favorite fan is Rebecca Thompson, a school teacher from Chicago. Rebecca first heard Feminine Declaration during a difficult time in her life and their music became her solace. She says, “Their music isn’t just soothing, it’s empowering. There is something incredibly moving about the raw, unfiltered emotion in their songs. As a woman, their music resonates with me on a deeply personal level. Their song ‘Unchained Melody of the Brave’ became my personal anthem during a time I was fighting my own personal battles.
