Backstory:
Fickle German began in late 2011 when a trio of misfit music lovers crossed paths at a communal living space in Berlin. The group consists of lead vocalist and guitarist Lukas Schmidt, bassist Matthias Koenig, and drummer Lena Hofmann. Intrigued by each other’s eclectic musical tastes, which ranged from punk rock to classical music, the trio decided to combine their talents, resulting in a unique fusion of sounds and the birth of Fickle German. Their journey has been like a roller coaster ride, full of ups and downs, but their love for music, humor, and shared nostalgia for 90s rock music has kept them together.

Title:
“Café Conversations”
Full Song Lyrics:
[Verse 1] (A, E, F#m, D)
In a café on a Sunday, (A)
Under skies of Berlin grey, (E)
We found words in cups of coffee, (F#m)
Got lost in conversations that stray, (D)
[Verse 2] (A, E, F#m, D)
Rumor of revolution in the air, (A)
Tales told with eyes, or a silent stare, (E)
Cigarette smoke, and old records play, (F#m)
Echoing dreams, in disarray. (D)
[Chorus] (E, D, A, E)
Café conversations, lost in translation, (E)
Echoes of a city, whispering its narration, (D)
We’re just figures in the fray, (A)
In café conversations, we slowly fray away. (E)
[Verse 3] (A, E, F#m, D)
Tables turn, as the world outside, (A)
We’re figures in a play, roles we didn’t decide, (E)
In café conversations, we find, (F#m)
A piece of peace, leaving the world behind. (D)
[Chorus] (E, D, A, E)
Café conversations, more than mere distraction, (E)
In this haven of the heart, we find our action, (D)
We’re just figures in the fray, (A)
In café conversations, we slowly fray away. (E)
Favorite Fan:
The band’s favorite fan is a guy named Simon Fischer. Simon has been following the band since their early days, attending nearly all their gigs and even travelling with them on tours. He became their favorite because of his unyielding support, often helping them set up for shows and even designing their merchandise. He’s more than just a fan to them, he’s a part of the Fickle German family.
Testimonial:
“For me, Fickle German isn’t just a band, it’s a way of life. Their music is the soundtrack to my existence. The raw emotions, the haunting melodies, and the profound lyrics resonate with me on a level that no other music has. I’ve watched them grow and evolve, and their music has led me on my own journey of self-discovery. They are more than musicians to me, they are poets, philosophers, and friends. Fickle German forever!” – Simon Fischer.
