Backstory:
Firm Nest was established in 2005 in the bohemian neighborhood of Williamsburg, Brooklyn. The group was formed by childhood friends and well-known local buskers, Liam Hastings and Jasper Crane. Their shared love for music and a desire to bring a fresh sound to the city’s music scene prompted them to work together. Their success was not immediate, but their passion and dedication saw them through years of performing in small clubs, subway stations, and street corners. In 2010, they were joined by drummer, Zoe Martinez, a Berklee College of Music graduate, jazz enthusiast, and the final piece to the Firm Nest puzzle. Their unique fusion of folk, classic rock, and melodious jazz undertones quickly caught the industry’s attention, propelling them into the music limelight.

Title:
“In the Arms of the City”
Song Lyrics:
(Verse 1)
Em
On the streets of Brooklyn, where the city lights shine,
Am
We painted dreams on the pavements with no definite line.
D
Through the chaos and the music, we found our way,
G
In the arms of the city, we learned to play.
(Chorus)
C G
In the heartbeat of the city, under the moon’s glow,
D Em
We found our rhythm, we made it our home.
C G
In the laughter and tears, melodies we spun,
D Em
In the arms of the city, we became one.
(Verse 2)
Em
The city gave us a stage, a story, and a song,
Am
In the quiet of the night and the hustle where we belong.
D
In the subway stations, in the echoing halls,
G
In the arms of the city, we heard the call.
(Chorus)
C G
In the heartbeat of the city, under the moon’s glow,
D Em
We found our rhythm, we made it our home.
C G
In the laughter and tears, melodies we spun,
D Em
In the arms of the city, we became one.
Favorite Fan:
The band’s favorite fan is Angela Hart. She has been following Firm Nest since their busking days and has attended every one of their shows. In her words, “I was captivated by their sound from the very first song I heard them play on a subway platform. There’s something about their music that resonates with me; it’s raw, evocative, yet comforting. Firm Nest tells the story of the city and its people in their own unique way. Their music is the soundtrack of my life, and I can’t wait to see where their journey takes them next.”
