Backstory:
Giving Component emerged from the heartland of Akron, Ohio. The band comprises of four members: Max Collins (lead vocals and bass), Johnny Hawkins (lead guitar), Billy Harvey (rhythm guitar, backing vocals), and James “Bongo” Kelly (drums). The group was formed in 2009 when Max and Johnny decided to turn their college jam sessions into something more substantial. They recruited Billy and Bongo from the local music scene and began playing gigs around town. Their rise to fame was a slow burn, passed on from listener to listener, enjoying down-to-earth fame and genuine fan interaction.
Genre:
Giving Component is best characterized as Alternative Rock with a dash of Indie Pop. Their music embodies a fusion of gritty guitar riffs, catchy melodies and introspective lyrics, with a touch of electronic elements.
