Backstory:
Glamorous Sex, a band that began life in the small coastal town of Clacton, England in 1984, is the brainchild of eccentric duo Jeremy ‘Jezz’ Clayton and Sam ‘Cosmic’ Atkins. Jezz, the charismatic frontman, and Cosmic, the enigmatic drummer and keyboardist, met at a local pub’s open mic night. Both had a shared love for the outlandish and flamboyant side of rock ‘n’ roll, and together they decided to fuse their talents into one glittering package. The band’s repertoire is a mix of cutting-edge synth pop and glam rock, a genre-bending sound that was unique for the time.
In 1985, Glamorous Sex released their first single, “Lipstick Stains,” which gained airplay in local clubs and radio stations. This initial success led to a record deal with independent label Starburst Records. A whirlwind of sequins, platforms, and synthesized beats, Glamorous Sex skyrocketed to fame with their energetic performances and audacious fashion sense, capturing the hearts of the burgeoning New Romantics subculture.
