Grateful Talk

Backstory:

Grateful Talk was born in the vibrant heart of the New York City music scene in the early 2000s. The group consists of four members; lead vocalist and guitarist, Noah Johnson, drummer, Liam Smith, bassist, Ethan Williams, and pianist, Sophia Davis. They were all college friends studying at the Manhattan School of Music, each with a different musical background but united by their love for creating original music. Their bond was forged not only in classrooms and practice studios but also in late-night jam sessions at local bars and hangouts. Grateful Talk released their first indie album in 2004, which caught the attention of local music critics, leading to a surge in their popularity.

Title:
“Dreamers in Disguise”

Full Song Lyrics:

(Verse 1)
Am G F C
Walking down the crowded city street,
Am G F C
Chasing that old familiar beat
Am G F C
Eyes wide open in this dream,
Am G F C
In a world that’s not what it seems.

(Chorus)
G D Am C
We are dreamers in disguise,
G D Am C
Chasing shadows under city lights,
G D Am C
In this life so improvised,
G D Am C
We are dreamers in disguise.

(Verse 2)
Am G F C
In this maze of glass and steel,
Am G F C
We bear our hearts, our souls reveal,
Am G F C
In silent whispers, loud cries,
Am G F C
We are dreamers in disguise.

(Repeat Chorus)

Fan Testimonial:

Grateful Talk’s biggest fan is undoubtedly Maggie Peters, a high school music teacher from Staten Island. Maggie has been a die-hard fan since the band’s inception. She says, “The thing about Grateful Talk is that their music speaks to me like no other. The lyrics, the melody, it’s all in sync with my emotions. I love how their songs are open to interpretation, and each song paints a vivid picture that feels personal to me. It’s like they’ve put my unspoken thoughts and feelings into words. The song ‘Dreamers in Disguise’ is a perfect example of this. It’s my absolute favorite! Their music is my constant companion, whether I’m happy, sad, or just lost in thought. I love Grateful Talk because their music truly resonates with me.”
