The story

Formed in the industrial heart of Glasgow in 2018, Grimy Concentration came together when four disillusioned art students realized their late-night jam sessions in abandoned warehouses were more than just a way to pass the time. Fueled by the city’s perpetual drizzle and the frustration of unfulfilled creative dreams, they started channeling their energy into an abrasive yet melodic sound, blending the rawness of punk with the layered introspection of alternative rock.

The band—comprising lead vocalist/guitarist Jamie “Jax” Knox, bassist Moira Bell, drummer Faisal Hamid, and synth wizard Rory Watt—quickly earned a reputation for explosive live performances and lyrics that grappled with the messy realities of modern life. Their music is a testament to finding beauty in the bleak, with a loyal fanbase that finds solace in their cathartic sound.

Rust in My Veins

Verse 1 (Em – G – D – A)
Em G D A
Concrete mornings, neon veins ignite
Em G D A
Chasing shadows through the static light
Em G D A
Shouts in stairwells, secrets in the rain
Em G D A
City’s heartbeat pounding out my name

Chorus (C – G – D – Em)
C G
Rust in my veins
D Em
Wearing me down, but I remain
C G
Steel in my bones
D Em
Never felt more alone
C G
But I’ll dance in the grind
D Em
Find some peace in the grime
C G
Rust in my veins
D Em
Still, I remain

Verse 2 (Em – G – D – A)
Em G D A
Bruises blooming under sleepless skin
Em G D A
Dreams unravel, torn apart from within
Em G D A
Grey horizon, hope in monochrome
Em G D A
Lost and found in a world overgrown

Chorus (C – G – D – Em)
C G
Rust in my veins
D Em
Wearing me down, but I remain
C G
Steel in my bones
D Em
Never felt more alone
C G
But I’ll dance in the grind
D Em
Find some peace in the grime
C G
Rust in my veins
D Em
Still, I remain

Bridge (Am – Em – G – D)
Am Em
Every scar is a map
G D
Leading home, leading back
Am Em
I’m not clean, I’m not free
G D
But I’m real, I’m me

Chorus (C – G – D – Em)
C G
Rust in my veins
D Em
Wearing me down, but I remain

Steel in my bones
D Em
Never felt more alone
C G
But I’ll dance in the grind

Find some peace in the grime
C G
Rust in my veins
D Em
Still, I remain

"Grimy Concentration is the soundtrack to my nights wandering the city with headphones on and too much on my mind. I discovered them at their first gig in a tiny pub, and the raw honesty in Jax’s lyrics just hit home. Since then, I’ve never missed a show. Their music makes me feel like it’s okay to be messy, to not have everything figured out. I even got the title ‘Rust
