Gross Craft

Backstory:
Gross Craft was formed in a gritty corner of East London’s art scene in late 2007. The band consists of five members: frontman Baxter James, guitarist Charlie Smith, bassist Olive Sterne, drummer Tony Corr and keyboardist Mary-Jane Nicks. The band members were all studying fine arts at the time, and being disenchanted with the pretentiousness they perceived in the contemporary art world, they decided to channel their creative energies into a different medium – music. They used their shared love of avant-garde music and alternative culture to form Gross Craft, a band that breaks boundaries and refuses to conform to the mainstream.

Genre:
Alternative Rock/Art Punk

Title:
“Canvas in Chaos”

Full Song Lyrics:

(Verse 1: Em, C, G, D)
Em C G D
Fingers stained in acrylic hues, dreams in disarray,
Em C G D
Heartbeats echo in silent rooms, where thoughts always stray.
Em C G D
Empty frames, forgotten names, we’re lost in the fray,
Em C G D
Our mind’s craft, is an aftermath, of colours in grey.

(Chorus: Am, Em, G, D)
Am Em G D
We are the canvas in chaos, lost in our creation,
Am Em G D
Painting tunes of defiance, in a world of consternation,
Am Em G D
Burn the norms, in fires we perform,
Am Em G D
Gross Craft is our salvation, in this creative station.

(Repeat Verse 1 and Chorus with different lyrics)

Testimonial: “Discovering Gross Craft was like finding an unseen color or hearing a new sound for the first time. They are not just a band, they’re an experience. Their music is raw and real, it’s like every song is a rebellion against the mundane, the conventional. As an art student, their songs resonate with me on a personal level. The way they incorporate their love for art into their music is simply fascinating. They’re not just musicians, they’re artists in the truest sense of the word. Gross Craft is not for everyone, but that’s the beauty of it. Their music has this unique ability to bring like-minded individuals together and create a community that appreciates art and life in its rawest form. And that’s why Gross Craft is my favorite band.”
