Backstory:

Grumpy Consciousness formed in the heart of Brooklyn, New York during the early 2000s. The band came together as a result of a chance meeting at a local music festival. Tom, the lead guitarist, bumped into Nina, the drummer, at a food truck and they quickly bonded over their shared love for rock and blues. Later that evening, they met Matt, the bass player, at a gig and the trio hit it off instantly. They began jamming together in Tom’s basement and soon realized they had a unique sound that people might love. Thus, Grumpy Consciousness was born.

Despite their fun name, the band takes their music very seriously. Their songs often touch upon deep themes such as love, loss, and the struggle for authenticity in a world obsessed with appearances. Grumpy Consciousness has always aimed to create music that inspires thought and triggers emotion, making their listeners pause and reflect amidst the chaos of daily life.
