Backstory:
Hideous Water originated in Seattle, Washington, in the late 90s, a time when grunge was still the dominant sound of the city. The band was formed by a group of baristas, all working in the same coffee shop, who realized they shared the same love for music. The name ‘Hideous Water’ was an inside joke, referencing a particularly disastrous coffee brew that had occurred during their early morning shifts. They decided to keep the name as a reminder of their humble beginnings.
Despite their love for the grunge scene, Hideous Water wanted to explore different genres and sounds, not confining themselves to a single one. After years of experimenting and evolving, they established a unique sound that resonated with the listeners, a genre that they affectionately named ‘coffee rock’.
Genre: Coffee Rock
Title: Steamy Reflections
Full Song Lyrics:
Verse:
Am G F C
Mornings start with a bitter brew,
Em G Am C
Lost in thoughts of me and you,
Am G F C
Steamy cups and broken hearts,
Em G Am C
In this coffee shop, our world starts.
Chorus:
Dm F C G
Steamy reflections in the cup,
Am G F C
In the hideous water, we’re caught up,
Dm F C G
In the swirling dark, we find our light,
Am G F C
In the steamy reflections, we ignite.
Verse:
Am G F C
The day ends, but our melody remains,
Em G Am C
In the froth and beans, our story stains,
Am G F C
Even when the last drop is drained,
Em G Am C
In our hearts, our song is ingrained.
Chorus:
Dm F C G
Steamy reflections in the cup,
Am G F C
In the hideous water, we’re caught up,
Dm F C G
In the swirling dark, we find our light,
Am G F C
In the steamy reflections, we ignite.
Fan Testimonial:
Our favorite fan’s name is Emily Johnson, a college student who discovered our music during her intense study sessions. Emily says, “I was instantly drawn to Hideous Water’s unique sound. Their music blends seamlessly into the background, making it the perfect soundtrack for studying. But more than that, it’s in the quieter moments that their lyrics truly shine, reminding me that it’s okay to take a break, enjoy a cup of coffee, and just be. Their song ‘Steamy Reflections’ particularly resonates with me. It’s like they’ve bottled up the essence of a coffee shop into a song. I can’t imagine a day without their music.”
