1. Formed in the eclectic surroundings of Portland, Oregon in 2011, Horrible Object began as a trio of college friends sharing a mutual love for music and an odd sense of humor. The three members, vocalist/keyboardist Dana Baxter, guitarist Simon Roche and drummer Tom Waites, originally met in a local underground poetry scene. What started as a joke – writing quirky songs about their daily experiences and emotions – soon turned into something more serious when they noticed the unexpected resonance their music had with their audience. After their first impromptu gig at a local coffee shop, they felt the thrill of connecting with an audience and decided to continue their unexpected journey as a band, taking the name Horrible Object as a whimsical nod to their humble and unconventional beginnings.
2. Horrible Object’s music genre is best described as Indie Folk with a hint of Dark Cabaret.

4. Song Lyrics for “Nostalgia in a Teacup”:
[Verse 1] (C, Am, F, G)
Staring back at the mirror, (C, Am)
Watching years pass me by, (F, G)
I pour my heart into a teacup, (C, Am)
Where old dreams refuse to die. (F, G)
[Chorus] (C, G, Am, F)
There’s nostalgia in a teacup, (C, G)
Memories bitter, memories sweet, (Am, F)
Sip it slowly or it’ll sweep you off your feet. (C, G, Am, F)
[Verse 2] (C, Am, F, G)
The taste of love, the taste of loss, (C, Am)
Seeped deep in the china’s crack, (F, G)
Every sip a journey back, (C, Am)
To a past I cannot get back. (F, G)
[Chorus] (C, G, Am, F)
There’s nostalgia in a teacup, (C, G)
A potion strong, a elixir deep, (Am, F)
Drunk on memories, as into dreams we seep. (C, G, Am, F)
5. The band’s favorite fan is Lorelei Kowalski, an enigmatic librarian from the band’s hometown. Lorelei has followed Horrible Object since their first gig at the coffee shop, and her support has never wavered. In her testimonial she writes, “Horrible Object’s music is a beautiful paradox. It’s haunting yet comforting, melancholic yet charmingly humorous. Their songs speak to me on the deepest level, somehow taking ordinary moments of life and turning them into profound reflections. The honesty and vulnerability in their lyrics resonate with emotions I didn’t know I had. With Horrible Object, I feel seen, heard, and understood. And that’s why they will forever be my favorite band.”
