Ill-Informed Kick

1. Backstory
Ill-Informed Kick was formed in a small, dingy garage in the suburbs of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania in 2015. The band consists of four childhood friends – Caleb Davidson (vocals), Noah Phillips (guitar), Ethan Roberts (drums), and Liam Thompson (bass). They all shared a common love for music and decided to band together during their high school years, fuelling their dreams with raw passion, limited knowledge, and their uncanny knack of misunderstanding the world, thus leading to the name, “Ill-Informed Kick”. Despite their meagre beginnings, they trudged on, performing at local gigs and school events, slowly gaining a loyal fan base within their community.

Their breakthrough came in 2017 when their self-recorded demo got into the hands of a local radio DJ who started playing one of their songs during his late-night slot. Their unique sound and compelling lyrics quickly caught the attention of listeners and soon, record labels. In 2018, Ill-Informed Kick signed a contract with Elephant Records and began to make their mark on the national music scene.

2. Music Genre
Ill-Informed Kick can be classified under Alternative Rock with elements of Punk and Pop Rock.

3. Song Title
“Suburban Shadows”

4. Full Song Lyrics
(Verse 1)
Six feet under the streetlights,
Barefoot on a cold night,
In the suburban shadows, we take flight,
Running from our old life.

(Chorus)
Suburban Shadows, hiding our dreams,
Locked inside our hearts, bursting at the seams,
Following the starlight, chasing moonbeams,
In the suburban shadows, we find our means.

(Verse 2)
The echoes of our laughter, breaking the silence,
Our secret rendezvous, our youthful defiance,
In the suburban shadows, we find our alliance,
Away from the world’s violence.

(Chorus)
Suburban Shadows, where we confess,
Our unspoken fears and hidden distress,
Underneath the starlight in our Sunday best,
In the Suburban Shadows, we find our rest.

(Bridge)
In these streets, we grew so wild and free,
In these shadows, we let our spirits be,
Under the moonlight, only we can see,
In the Suburban Shadows, we find our key.

(Chorus)
Suburban Shadows, our sanctuary,
Away from the world’s obligatory,
Beneath the starlight, we find our glory,
In the Suburban Shadows, that’s our story.

5. Chord Progression
The song follows a progression of E minor, G major, D major, and A minor. The bridge switches it up slightly with C major, G major, D major, and A minor.
