Backstory:

Illiterate Shadow was formed in 2008 in the streets of Liverpool, United Kingdom by childhood friends, Ian McGowan (lead vocalist), Carl Thompson (guitarist), and Paul Fredrick (drummer). The trio, initially coming from different music backgrounds, found their sound in the unresolved chords of adolescence, fueled by their shared love for literature and philosophy. They chose the name ‘Illiterate Shadow’ as an ironic comment on society’s dismissal of art and the true depth of human creativity.

Their journey was not without its challenges, but adversity only strengthened their bond. The band’s first break came when they won a local battle of the bands contest, catching the attention of independent label, Indie Stone Records. Since then, Illiterate Shadow has become a beacon for fans craving a marriage of thought-provoking lyrics and raw, energetic music.
