Backstory:
Insistent Rumour was formed in the small town of Haddonfield, Illinois, in the summer of 2011. Childhood friends Max, Billy, and Charlie found a shared love of music during long, endless summer nights when there was nothing else to do. They started out as a garage band, practicing in Max’s parents’ garage and playing gigs at parties and local bars. With the addition of Liz, Billy’s cousin from New York who played the keyboard, their sound was complete. Their breakthrough came in 2014 when a scout from a major record label happened to be in town and caught their act. Impressed by their raw talent and unique sound, he signed them on the spot.
Genre:
Insistent Rumour’s music falls into the Indie Rock genre with a hint of Pop. They have been lauded for their eclectic sound, combining heavy guitar riffs, catchy keyboard lines, and melodic vocals.
Title:
Their most popular song to date is “Whispers in the Wind”.
Full Song Lyrics:
(Verse 1)
[Em] Underneath the [G] old oak tree, [D] we carved our [A] names with liberty,
[Em] Promises of [G] you and me, [D] now they’re just [A] whispers in the wind.
(Chorus)
[G] Whispers in the [A] wind are all [D] that’s left of us,
[G] Broken promises, [A] shattered trust,
[G] The love we had, [A] it’s turned to dust,
[D] All we are now are [A] whispers in the wind.
(Verse 2)
[Em] I still remember [G] that summer night, [D] when everything [A] felt so right,
[Em] Now it’s just a [G] distant light, [D] fading like [A] whispers in the wind.
(Chorus)
[G] Whispers in the [A] wind are all [D] that’s left of us,
[G] Broken promises, [A] shattered trust,
[G] The love we had, [A] it’s turned to dust,
[D] All we are now are [A] whispers in the wind.
Fan Testimonial:
Their most passionate fan, Cindy, has been with them since their garage band days. As she says, “I’ve always loved Insistent Rumour because their music speaks to me on a personal level. It’s like they’ve put my feelings into words and melodies. I’ve grown with them, laughed with them, cried with them. And every time they release a new song, it’s like unwrapping a gift I didn’t know I needed. They’re not just musicians to me, they’re friends.”
