Backstory:
Joint Institution is a group of four college friends – lead vocalist Jefferson “Jef” Houston, guitarist Ryan “Ry” Davies, bassist Willy “Wills” Thompson, and drummer Michael “Mike” Stevens – that formed during their university days in 2012. Despite coming from different academic fields, they were all united by their love for music. Their dorm rooms became their makeshift studio where they spent countless nights experimenting with sounds, lyrics, and melodies, which eventually gave birth to their unique, cohesive sound. They started performing in college events, local bars, and small gigs, gradually building their reputation as a band to watch out for in the indie music scene.
