Backstory:
Composed of five Brooklyn-based childhood friends, Kosher Cable was formed in the summer of 2004. The members, all hailing from Orthodox Jewish families, initially bonded over a shared admiration for punk rock, and a shared frustration with the limitations of their traditional upbringing. Driven by their intertwined desire for rebellion and self-expression, they started practicing and creating music in their parents’ basements, using their cultural heritage and unique upbringing to fuel their lyrical inspiration. Over time, they found a niche in the music industry, connecting with fans who resonated with their unique perspective and raw, unfiltered sound.

Title:
“Yarmulke Rebellion”
Full Song Lyrics:
[Verse 1]
Am (E) Am (G)
Born in a neighborhood where prayers rain,
Am (E) Am (G)
Challenges perceived, beneath yarmulke’s reign.
Dm (C) G (E)
In our veins runs kosher blood,
Dm (C) G (E)
But our hearts beat to punk’s thud.
[Chorus]
Am (E) Am (G)
Yarmulke rebellion, in rhythm we unite,
Am (E) Am (G)
Punk rock echoes, in the soft synagogue’s light.
Dm (C) G (E)
Strumming strong, our punk prayer,
Dm (C) G (E)
In kosher hearts, rebellion we declare.
[Verse 2]
Am (E) Am (G)
Now we play under cable’s glow,
Am (E) Am (G)
Away from the temple, into the night we flow.
Dm (C) G (E)
Liberating strings, on our sacred stage,
Dm (C) G (E)
From a synagogue to punk rage.
[Chorus]
Am (E) Am (G)
Yarmulke rebellion, setting spirits free,
Am (E) Am (G)
In our punk verses, a Kosher decree.
Dm (C) G (E)
Underneath the cables, in punk we trust,
Dm (C) G (E)
Listed to the Kosher Cable, for liberation is a must.

Testimonial: Kosher Cable is more than just a band to me. Their music speaks to my soul, my struggles, and my strengths. Raised in a strict Orthodox family, I found solace in their raw punk rock melodies. They’ve crafted their unique sound around my culture, my religion, and my rebellious spirit. They’ve created a space where I, a girl from Brooklyn, can headbang to the rhythm of punk rock while embracing my kosher roots. Kosher Cable is my favorite because they’ve bridged a gap I never knew could be crossed, connecting my heritage with my love for punk rock and for that, I am forever grateful.
