Backstory:
Formed in the heart of the vibrant music scene in Seattle, Washington, ‘Leafy Rate’ is the brainchild of lead vocalist and guitarist, Callum Smith and drummer, Leah James. Initially, they met in a community college where they both enrolled in a Music Theory class, and they quickly found common ground over their shared love for music. They decided to form a band and named it ‘Leafy Rate’, inspired by the concept of change—like leaves falling from trees and the rate at which life evolves. The duo soon became a quartet when they were joined by bassist, Jordan Young and keyboardist, Mia Roberts.
Genre:
Leafy Rate puts a twist on Indie Rock, combining it with hints of folk and a brush of country, creating a fusion that feels both familiar and completely original. Their sound is a refreshing mix of powerful chords, melodic riffs, and introspective lyrics.
Title:
“Dancing in the Rain”
Full Song Lyrics:
[Verse 1]
C G
Moving under the moonlight, barefoot on the grass,
Em D
Chasing dreams and fireflies, hoping this night would last,
C G
We’re painting our own canvas, under the midnight blue,
Em D
Our laughter echoes, our love rings true.
[Chorus]
C G
We are dancing in the rain,
Em D
Caught in our own timeless frame,
C G
No worries, no pain, just us and the falling rain,
Em D
In this moment, everything else is in vain.
[Verse 2]
C G
Stars are our spotlight, the night’s our stage,
Em D
Together we write our story, page by page,
C G
The rhythm of raindrops, our sweet serenade,
Em D
In your arms, all my worries fade.
[Chorus]
C G
We are dancing in the rain,
Em D
Spinning in this lover’s lane,
C G
Hand in hand, love unchained,
Em D
In your eyes, my home remains.
