Backstory:
Likable Mate is a band that was formed in the summer of 2008 in the laid-back city of Melbourne, Australia. Comprised of high school friends, Jake on vocals and guitar, Milo on bass, and Archie on drums. The trio started playing together in their parents’ garages, crafting their unique sound and bonding over their shared love of music. Their big break came when they won a local radio station’s Battle of the Bands, leading them on a whirlwind journey of recording and touring.
Their unique blend of upbeat melodies and introspective lyrics quickly gained them a strong fanbase across Australia. The band’s approach to music is as casual and carefree as their friendship – they write songs about their experiences, their city, and the people they meet. Likable Mate wants their music to be a source of positivity, an escape, a ‘likable mate’ in the listener’s life.

Title:
“Sunset Streets”
Full Song Lyrics:
Verse 1:
C Am
Walking down the sunset streets,
F G
Underneath the Jacaranda trees
C Am
Your laughter in the summer breeze,
F G
Oh, these are the moments I want to freeze.
Chorus:
C G Am F
In the city of dreams, under the twilight’s gleam,
C G Am F
With you by my side, in the swift, fleeting ride.
C G Am F
Within the vibrant hues, we’ve got nothing to lose,
C G Am F
On these sunset streets, we dance to our own beats.
Verse 2:
C Am
Glimmering lights, an endless maze,
F G
Hand in hand, lost in a haze.
C Am
In the heart of the city ablaze,
F G
We’ve found our place, in its soft, warm embrace.
(Repeat Chorus)
