Backstory:
Loathsome Lifespan was formed in 2010 when childhood friends Liam O’Connor and Seth Hammer decided to channel their shared love of music into something tangible. The pair had grown up together in the small Irish town of Dingle, their bond strengthening over the shared loss of their fathers in a tragic fishing accident. Music became their outlet, their refuge, and their voice. Once they were old enough, they moved to Dublin, and after recruiting two more members, Monica Brennan and Mick Daly, Loathsome Lifespan was born. The band would practice in old warehouses, their haunting melodies echoing off the bare, brick walls. Their music resonated with people, and their following grew quickly, catapulting them from the outskirts of obscurity to the spotlight of the indie music scene.

Title: “Drowning in the Shallow”
Full song lyrics:
Verse [Em, G, D, A]
(Em) Once upon a hardened time,
(G) Where laughter was a forgotten rhyme,
(D) We danced on tunes of silent chime,
(A) In life’s cruel play, without a dime.
Chorus [C, G, D]
(C) Oh, we’re drowning in the shallow,
(G) Hearts heavy but our heads are hollow.
(D) We’ve been chasing our shadows,
Embracing pain, ignoring the rain; the world’s sorrow.
Verse [Em, G, D, A]
(Em) Our dreams threadbare, stitched in despair,
(G) What’s left are echoes of a love so rare.
(D) We stand tall with burdens we bear,
(A) A loathsome lifespan, a story we share.
Chorus [C, G, D]
(C) Oh, we’re drowning in the shallow,
(G) Hearts heavy but our heads are hollow.
(D) We’ve been chasing our shadows,
Embracing pain, ignoring the rain; the world’s sorrow.
Favorite Fan Testimonial:
My name is Fiona Collins and I’m a massive fan of Loathsome Lifespan. Their music speaks to me on such a profound level, I feel as though they’re narrating my life story. Their song “Drowning in the Shallow” is a poignant exploration of the human condition – how we grapple with loss, pain, and the struggle of existence. The raw emotion and vulnerability they express through their lyrics are unmatched, and I believe this is what sets them apart. What I love most about them is their authenticity. Despite their growing fame, they’ve remained grounded and true to their roots. They’re not just a band; they’re storytellers, weaving tales of human struggle and resilience through their music.
