Loyal Tax

Backstory:

Formed in the rainy city of Seattle in 2015, Loyal Tax was initially just an escape for four college friends from the mundane routines of their accounting majors. Founding members – Jason “Jax” McGrath, Marty Clinton, Tom Summers, and Vince Carr – discovered their shared passion for music while studying at the University of Washington. Naming their band ‘Loyal Tax’ as an ironic nod to their accounting backgrounds, they began to play at local bars and small venues, eventually catching the ear of indie record label, ‘Atlantic Drift Records’.

In 2018, Loyal Tax released their breakthrough EP, ‘Income Statement’. It was a runaway success that propelled them to stardom within the indie music scene. Their unique blend of progressive indie rock and punk, punctuated with incisive lyrics about corporate life and the struggle of the working man, resonated with many.

Song Title: “Deductible Love”

Full Song Lyrics:

(Verse 1)
In this corporate maze, we’re all just numbers,
Lost in the haze, suffocated by the slumbers.
Punching the clock, in this factory of dreams,
We’re just stocks in their capitalist schemes.

(Chorus)
But in the ledger of love, you’re my greatest asset,
In the world where numbers rule,
You’re my deductible love, my sweetest duet.

(Verse 2)
As the profits soar, and the suits get richer,
We’re stuck on the floor, while they twitch the switcher.
But through the grey, your love brings the color,
Our secret getaway, beneath the gray collar.

(Chorus)
In the balance sheet of life, you’re my biggest gain,
In the cold hard truth of struggle,
You’re my deductible love, my sunshine in the rain.

(Bridge)
Accounting for the moments, investing in the thrill,
Hand in hand, against the corporate mill.
In the tax of love, you’re my rightful deduction,
Through all the red tape, the rules, and the corruption.

(Chorus)
In the ledger of love, you’re my greatest asset,
In the world where numbers rule,
You’re my deductible love, my sweetest duet.

Chord Progression: Am – C – G – D
