Backstory:

Modest Step is a band that was formed in the vibrant city of San Francisco, California back in 2012. The band comprises four members – lead vocalist and guitarist Ethan Smith, bassist Matthew ‘Matty’ Harvey, keyboardist Sophie Hopkins, and drummer Alex ‘AJ’ Jones. All four members were once part of different bands performing at local venues around town. On a fateful evening, at the city’s annual Battle of the Bands event, they crossed paths and felt an immediate musical connection. They decided to take a ‘modest step’ towards a new musical journey, hence the name of the band.
