Backstory:
Negative Barrier emerged from the swirling mists of the Pacific Northwest in 2007, formed by a group of four friends with a shared love of music and a deep desire to break away from the basic forms of traditional music. The band’s members, comprised of two brothers, Jake and Danny Thompson on guitar and drums, their childhood friend, Izzy Martinez on bass, and their enigmatic frontman, Kenji Nakamura, formed while in college. Their shared dorm rooms became a hothouse for musical experimentation and the melting pot for the band’s signature sound, a fusion of progressive rock, electronica, and the kind of brooding, atmospheric indie rock that mirrors the region’s moody weather.
The band released their first successful EP, ‘Breaking the Surface’ in 2009. Eclectic and atmospheric, the EP quickly grabbed the attention of the underground music scene. Their fame continued to grow, and by 2012, they were playing at some of the biggest music festivals in the country. Today, they’re known for their electrifying live performances and their unique ability to create deeply emotional soundscapes that resonate with their listeners.

“Harmony in Chaos”
Lyrics:
Verse 1:
Am – C – G – D
In the silence, in the dark, (Am)
Far from the light, far from the spark, (C)
We’re lost in the noise, lost in the crowd, (G)
Screaming thoughts, but we’re not loud. (D)
Chorus:
Through the discord, through the fray, (Am)
Find the rhythm, find the way, (C)
In the chaos, we create, (G)
A beautiful harmony that will resonate. (D)
Verse 2:
Living in shadows, living in the night, (Am)
In the chaos, we find the light. (C)
Twisting the noise, bending the sound, (G)
In the chaos, harmony is found. (D)
Chorus:
Through the discord, through the fray, (Am)
Find the rhythm, find the way, (C)
In the chaos, we create, (G)
A beautiful harmony that will resonate. (D)
Outro:
In the chaos, we are one, (Am)
Under the same moon, the same sun. (C)
Through the noise, through the fight, (G)
We find harmony in the night. (D)
