Backstory:
Notable Belt started as a group of high school friends in Dayton, Ohio, who shared the love for creating music. The band members – frontman Charlie Saunders, lead guitarist Ethan Klein, bassist Jeffrey Hopkins, and drummer Lily Cooper – formed Notable Belt in 2006 during their senior year. The band’s name, Notable Belt, was inspired by an old, worn-out belt that Charlie’s grandfather, a notable jazz musician, used to wear. The belt became a symbolic representation of passing down the legacy of music.
Despite their small-town beginnings, Notable Belt’s passion and commitment to their craft quickly gained the attention of local audiences. Their unique sound and poignant lyrics resonated with many, and before long, their popularity began to spread beyond Dayton. The band’s big break came in 2010 when they were discovered by a record label executive at one of their gigs, leading to the release of their first studio album, ‘Echoes of Yesterday’.
Genre:
Notable Belt primarily delves into Indie Rock with subtle elements of Pop and Alternative Rock.
Title:
“One More Lie”
Full Song Lyrics:
(Verse 1)
[G]Downtown under city lights, [D]you and I, we used to thrive,
[Em]In this chaos, we found delight, [C]but tonight, it feels so dry.
[G]Your lipstick stain on my old shirt, [D]traces of a love, now hurt,
[Em]I ask myself if it’s worth, [C]one more lie, to feel alive.
(Chorus)
[G]One more lie, in this silent night,
[D]can make it right, can bring back the light,
[Em]In your eyes, I find my fight,
[C]so tell me, love, can we try one more lie?
(Verse 2)
[G]The city sleeps but we’re awake, [D]broken hearts, they rarely break,
[Em]In the ruins of our love, we make, [C]one more lie, for old times’ sake.
(Chorus)
[G]One more lie, in this haunting quiet,
[D]can we deny, the end is nigh?
[Em]In your voice, I hear my plight,
[C]so tell me, love, can we try one more lie?
