1. Backstory

Oblong Focus began as a two-piece acoustic act, playing small gigs in the dense forest of the Pacific Northwest. Founding members, vocalist Tyrone “Ty” Baxter and guitarist Devin “Dee” Whitfield, were childhood friends who discovered their shared love for music and storytelling during their high school years. They started performing together in local coffee shops, where their mesmerizing harmonies and heartfelt lyrics caught the attention of a music producer vacationing in the area. He swiftly signed them to his independent label, pushing the duo to expand their sound and evolve into a full band. They added bassist Mia “Mimi” Lawson, drummer Lucas “Luke” Green, and keyboardist Sam “Keys” Reynolds, creating a five-piece band that brought their acoustic folk sound to new heights, blending it with elements of indie rock and alternative country.
