Backstory:
Formed in 2008, Odd Boat is the brainchild of four college friends hailing from Seattle, Washington. The band members – Jim Atwell (lead vocals, and guitar), Jack Prost (bass), Sam Knight (drums), and Tim O’Farrell (keyboards) – shared a common passion for music and a desperate need to escape the monotony of their college curriculum. Inspired by a bizarre incident involving a boat party that turned into an unexpected citywide search for lost pairs of shoes, they decided to name their band Odd Boat, symbolizing their strange and unexpected journey in life and music.
They began their musical journey by performing in local bars, college events, and small music festivals. Their unique sound and lyrics, filled with intense emotions and odd life experiences, quickly gained them a cult following. Despite facing numerous challenges including lineup changes and financial struggles, Odd Boat stayed true to their art, producing music that resonates with their fans on a deeply personal level.

“Drifting”
Song Lyrics:
[Verse 1]
G C Em D
Sailing on, in our own little world
G C Em D
Caught in waves, where secrets are unfurled
Am D G C
We’ve got no map, no compass to hold
Am D G C
Just our hearts, and stories to be told
[Chorus]
G C Em D
We’re just an Odd Boat, drifting along
G C Em D
Singing our life, in a heartrending song
Am D G C
No destination, no right or wrong
Am D G C
We’re just an Odd Boat, where we belong
[Verse 2]
G C Em D
Under the stars, bathed in moonlight’s glow
G C Em D
Our journey’s scars, only we know
Am D G C
In quiet whispers, in roaring thunder
Am D G C
We find our path, amidst wonder
[Chorus]
G C Em D
We’re just an Odd Boat, drifting along
G C Em D
Singing our life, in a heartrending song
Am D G C
No destination, no right or wrong
Am D G C
We’re just an Odd Boat, where we belong

Their favorite fan is a woman named Emily who has been following them since their first gig in a dingy bar in Seattle. Emily, a writer, connected deeply with their lyric-centric music. In her words: “Odd Boat’s music is like a beacon of light in the darkest of nights. Their soulful lyrics and music connect me to my feelings and make me feel less alone in my struggles. They’re my favorite because they’re real – their music is raw, honest, and deeply humane.”
