Backstory:
Formed in the heart of New York City in the summer of 2010, Paltry Start began as three college students with a shared passion for music. Maxfield Chambers, the charismatic lead vocalist and guitar player, joined forces with the exceptionally talented drummer, Jasper O’Reilly, and the creatively gifted bassist, Lenny Carter, during their sophomore year at the prestigious Julliard School. Initially, they were just jamming in their dorm room, but their unique sound quickly garnered attention from their peers. They started performing at local bars and soon gained a considerable following. Their big break came when they were discovered by an indie record label representative during one of their performances.
The band’s distinctive sound, imbued with raw emotion and the tenacity of youth, became their signature. Paltry Start’s music reflects their life experiences, struggles, passion, and the journey from their humble beginnings to their current place in the music world.

The band’s favorite fan is named Abby Sinclair. Abby, a budding musician herself, stumbled upon Paltry Start’s music during her freshman year at college. Their raw, emotive tunes and deeply personal lyrics resonated with her, helping her through difficult times.
