Backstory:
Phony Mixture was formed in the quiet neighborhood of Shady Oak, located in the heart of Brooklyn, New York, in the autumn of 2011. The band consists of four friends – Sam ‘Frets’ Foster on lead guitar, Danny ‘Dusk’ Ferguson on drums, Mike ‘Mix’ Matthews on bass, and the charismatic frontman, Eddie ‘Echo’ Edwards. The boys met during high school and bonded over their shared love of music, comic books, and their shared dream of one day rocking the stages of the world.
Their journey was not without struggle. They spent years practicing in the garage of Danny’s parents, creating and polishing their unique sound. Each member brought different influences – from punk rock to folk, from blues to alternative rock – and the mix of these genres was so unusual that they couldn’t help but name themselves Phony Mixture. Despite the disapproval of parents and several botched gigs, their unwavering passion for music kept them together, producing some of the most original and captivating sounds in the local music scene.

Title:
“Shadows of Yesterday”
Full Song Lyrics:
(Verse 1)
[C] Gazing at the [Am] mirror, seeing [G] shadows of yesterday,
[D] Broken dreams and [Em] shards of hope, [F] washed in the bay.
[C] Time’s a cruel [Am] master, [G] painting pictures in grey,
[D] But we’ll rise [Em] from the ashes, [F] come what may.
(Chorus)
[G] We are the Phony [D] Mixture,
[C] Dancing in the fire, [Am] playing our desire,
[G] We are the dreamers, [D] the wild and the free,
[C] Writing our story, [Am] for the world to see.
(Verse 2)
[C] In the heart of [Am] Brooklyn, under [G] a silent moon’s ray,
[D] We strum our guitars, [Em] letting the rhythm sway,
[C] We sing of love, [Am] we sing of pain,
[G] Of sunny days and [D] pouring rain.
(Repeat Chorus)
(Outro)
[G] This is our journey, [D] this is our fight,
[C] Amidst the darkness, [Am] we’ll be the light,
[G] We are the Phony [D] Mixture,
[C] Playing our tune, [Am] under the moon.
