Pleased Hot

1. Pleased Hot is a band that was born out of pure serendipity. The members, lead singer, and guitarist Michael “Mikey” Lawson, bassist Jake Townsend, drummer Frankie “The Beast” Goddard, and keyboardist Liza “Keys” Jones, were all individually struggling musicians from different parts of the country. They met at a music festival in Austin, Texas, in 2015, where they found themselves sharing their dreams over drinks and music. Discovering they had a unique musical chemistry, they decided to form a band and move to Los Angeles, naming themselves ‘Pleased Hot’ as an ironic nod to their initial hardship and humble beginnings.

2. Pleased Hot is a band that does not restrict themselves to a single genre, instead, they prefer to explore the myriad sounds of alternative rock, blues, and indie pop. Their music often carries a nostalgic undertone, reminiscent of the 90s grunge era but with a modern twist.

3. One of their hit songs is titled “Echoes of Yesterday”.

4. Here are the full lyrics:

– (Verse 1)
Midnight, in the back of my mind,
A memory, from another lifetime,
Your laughter, the echo of yesterday,
I still hear it, though you’ve gone away.

– (Chorus)
Echoes of yesterday, they never fade,
In my heart, they’re here to stay,
Like shadows, they hide in the day,
But in my dreams, they come out to play.

– (Verse 2)
Whiskey kisses, and cigarette goodbyes,
I still taste them, in the midnight skies,
Your touch, a ghost that lingers on,
Even though, darling, you’re long gone.

– (Chorus)
Echoes of yesterday, they never fade,
In my heart, they’re here to stay,
Like footprints, washed away by the rain,
But in my soul, they remain.

– (Bridge)
And I guess, we’re like a sun-kissed photograph,
A moment, frozen in the past,
The colors fade, but the love, oh it lasts,
In the echoes of yesterday, forever cast.

– (Chorus)
Echoes of yesterday, they never fade,
In my heart, they’re here to stay,
Like a melody, in a forgotten song,
In my memories, you live on.

5. The chord progression for ‘Echoes of Yesterday’ is relatively simple and follows the pattern of D – Bm – G – A in the verses and chorus, and transitions to Em – G – D – A in the bridge. This choice gives the song its nostalgic and melancholic tone, with a hint of hope and resilience. The bridge serves as a climactic turning point, increasing the song’s emotional intensity before it returns to the familiar pattern in the final chorus.
