Backstory:
Poor Reaction started as a daring venture between four high school friends in the small town of Creston, Ohio. The band, made up of lead vocalist/guitarist Danny Barker, bassist Nicky Sullivan, drummer Pete Skye, and keyboardist/vocalist Sarah Martinez, was first formed in their sophomore year. Since their inception, they have been writing, recording, and performing their unique blend of music within their parents’ garages and basements. The band’s name, Poor Reaction, was inspired by the disapproval they received from their school administrators for their rebellious spirit and their refusal to follow conventional patterns. These four friends, united by their shared love of music and non-conformity, were determined to prove everyone wrong.
Their journey from practicing in garages to playing at local music festivals is a testament to their tenacity. Their popularity soared when a music blogger from Rolling Stone happened to attend one of their concerts and wrote a glowing review about their performance. The positive blog post paved the way for them to sign a contract with a small yet reputable record label, which allowed them to produce their debut album. They’ve since been touring around the country, building a dedicated fan base with their sincere lyrics and dynamic performances.

Fan’s Testimonial:
My name is Tim Richards, a self-confessed Poor Reaction superfan. What makes this band my favorite is their raw, genuine sound and the relatable narratives in their music. Every song they write feels like it has been ripped from a page in my diary. It’s as if they have this uncanny ability to understand the struggles and dreams of our generation. Their songs, especially “Against the Tide”, inspire me to hold onto my dreams and keep fighting, even when life gets tough. It’s more than just music; it’s a lifeline that connects me to a community who understands and supports one another.
