Backstory:
Portly Chair was formed in the small coastal town of Rockport, Maine in 2006. The band was initially comprised of four friends – Hank Johnson (lead vocals), Billie Turner (guitar), Max Wells (bass), and Jesse Robinson (drums) – who were drawn together by their shared love of music and their mutual sense of humor. The name ‘Portly Chair’ was chosen during a late-night jam session in Hank’s basement. The band members were seemingly inspired by an old, oversized armchair in the corner of the room which had seen better days.
The band began performing at local bars and cafes and quickly garnered a loyal following due to their engaging performances and honest lyrics. Their big break came in 2009 when they were invited to perform at the renowned Maine Music festival. Their performance was met with critical acclaim and the band was subsequently signed by a prominent indie record label. Over the years, Portly Chair has continued to refine their music, all while staying true to the unique sound that first brought them together.

Title:
“Ocean’s Lullaby”
Lyrics:
(Verse 1)
C G Am F
We used to sit by the ocean wide,
C G Am F
Painting dreams with the falling tide.
C G Am F
Under the stars, in the moon’s soft light,
C G Am F
We found love in the cool, calm night.
(Chorus)
C G Am F
Oh, listen to the ocean’s lullaby,
C G Am F
A melody that never says goodbye.
C G Am F
It sings of love, it sings of you and I,
C G Am F
Under the sky, with the ocean’s lullaby.
(Verse 2)
C G Am F
The sea’s whisper, our hearts’ sweet refrain,
C G Am F
A symphony born from joy and pain.
C G Am F
With every wave, every rise and fall,
C G Am F
I feel your love, I hear your call.
(Chorus)
C G Am F
Oh, listen to the ocean’s lullaby,
C G Am F
A melody that never says goodbye.
C G Am F
It sings of love, it sings of you and I,
C G Am F
Under the sky, with the ocean’s lullaby.
