Positive Comparison

Backstory:
Positive Comparison is a stirring indie-pop band that emerged from the central streets of Chicago in 2013. The band is comprised of four members: frontman and lead vocalist Dexter Hammond, guitarist and backup vocalist Hailey Collins, bassist Trent Parker, and drummer Oliver Hunter. Initially, the band members were college friends interested in different genres of music, yet they had a shared love for musical exploration and creation. This led them to start jamming together in their dorm rooms. Their unique style of mixing classic pop with indie elements quickly caught the attention of the local crowd, and before long, Positive Comparison found themselves playing at local music festivals and clubs.

While the band started as a fun college project, they soon realized they were onto something bigger. The name Positive Comparison came about from their desire to inspire their listeners to feel good about themselves and encourage them to value their unique attributes instead of comparing themselves to others negatively. Their lyrics often carry a strong message of accepting oneself and fostering a positive mindset.

Band’s Favorite Fan:
Our favorite fan is Emily Watson. She’s been with us since our first performance in a tiny club in Chicago. She’s attended every single concert and even supported us during the recording of our first album. Emily says, “Positive Comparison is my favorite band because their music is more than just catchy tunes. It carries a message that encourages me to see myself positively and inspires me to dream without fear. Their songs serve as a reminder that we are all unique and valuable, and that’s a message I think everyone needs to hear.”
