Backstory:
Purple Literature began in the heart of Portland, Oregon, formed by four college friends who shared a passion for music, a love for the literary arts, and an obsession with the eccentricity of the color purple. Bart, the vocalist, was an English major with a penchant for writing soulful lyrics. Drummer and Psychology major, Sam, brought in the rhythm and depth. Ethan, a Fine Arts major, played the guitar and added an aesthetic essence to their music, while bassist and History major, Luke, infused the band with valuable depth and continuity. Their shared dorm room in college morphed into a jamming station, where their disparate academic paths merged to create a unique blend of music and lyrics, and that’s how Purple Literature was born.
Purple Literature’s journey began, performing at college events, local bars, and music festivals, gradually gaining recognition and popularity among the local crowd. Their music was an eclectic mix reflecting their diverse interests, creating a unique blend of philosophical ideas and aesthetically appealing sounds. In 2010, their self-titled debut album catapulted them to national fame, earning them a spot as the opening act for a leading indie rock band’s tour. Their unique sound, intellectual lyrics combined with their genuine and humble personality, has made them a favorite among music lovers.

Title:
“Shadows in the Sunlight”
Lyrics:
[Verse 1]
Em C
In the quiet of the morning, under the cherry tree,
G D
Words fall like petals in the springtime sea,
Em C
A story untold, whispered in the breeze,
G D
Hidden in the shadows, waiting to be set free.
[Chorus]
Am C
Shadows in the sunlight, secrets in the moonbeam,
G D
Lost in the pages of a forgotten dream,
Am C
We’re ink-stained poets, writing in the twilight,
G D
In the world of Purple Literature, where wrong feels so right.
[Verse 2]
Em C
Between the lines of reality, we weave a fantasy,
G D
With the rhythm of our hearts, we sing a symphony,
Em C
Beneath the starlit canvas, where love finds its way,
G D
In the dance of the shadows, where we forever sway.
[Chorus]
Am C
Shadows in the sunlight, secrets in the moonbeam,
G D
Lost in the pages of a forgotten dream,
Am C
We’re ink-stained poets, writing in the twilight,
G D
In the world of Purple Literature, where wrong feels so right.
