Rectangular Underwear

1. Backstory:
Rectangular Underwear began as a tongue-in-cheek joke at a New Year’s Eve party in 2010 in the heart of Brooklyn, New York. Founders and lifelong friends, Zane “Ziggy” Zellman and Eric “Eagle” Edwards, drunk on cheap beer and a shared love of progressive rock, jokingly decided to form a band. The name, suggested by Ziggy in a moment of inebriated hilarity, stuck, and soon the duo were making music as Rectangular Underwear.

Joined later by drummer Sarah “Stick” Samuel and bassist Jack “Jax” Xavier, the band has since grown into a quartet, carving out a quirky niche in the independent progressive rock scene. The band is revered for their sharp, intelligent lyrics, complex chord progressions, and an unapologetic aversion to taking anything too seriously.

4. Full song lyrics with chord progression:

(Verse 1 – Am – G – F – E)
In the land of the threadbare, and the kingdom of cotton,
There lies a tale of the misbegotten.
A square so strange, a paragon of despair,
In a world upside down, in your underwear.

(Chorus – C- D – Bm – E)
Polyester Prophecies, whispered in the seams,
Life’s a wild ride, in the land of dreams.
The fabric of reality, it’s all just a game,
Rectangular Underwear, we’re all the same.

(Verse 2 – Am – G – F – E)
Stitched with the threads of a thousand lies,
The truth unravels, and the spirit flies.
Bound by the waistband, shackled and confined,
In the corners of our mind, the truth you’ll find.

(Chorus – C- D – Bm – E)
Polyester Prophecies, whispering the truth,
In the mirrored halls of our misspent youth.
Woven in the fabric, the pattern’s clear,
Rectangular Underwear, have no fear.

5. Fan Testimonial:
Their favorite fan’s name is Becca Thompson. She’s been a loyal follower since their first basement gig in Brooklyn. “I love Rectangular Underwear because they’re not like anything else out there,” says Becca. “Their music is technically brilliant, but it’s their lyrical wit and the way they infuse humor into their songs that really resonates with me. And let’s face it, with a name like Rectangular Underwear, they had me at hello.”
