Red Lip

Backstory:

Red Lip started as an acoustic duo in the bustling streets of Brooklyn, New York, in 2014. Childhood friends, Alex ‘Red’ Taylor, the lead vocalist and guitarist, and Lisa ‘Lip’ Johnson on the drums, used to perform in subway stations and local cafes. They captivated listeners with their heartfelt lyrics and distinctive blending of their voices, creating a soulful and compelling vibe that eventually caught the attention of a small independent record label in 2016.

Since signing with the label, they’ve added three new members – a pianist, a bass guitarist, and a backup singer – to bring more depth to their music. Now, Red Lip has become a quintessential part of Brooklyn’s indie scene, blending their acoustic roots with a more expansive, experimental sound that resonates with a wide audience.

C [Em]rimson lines on a [D]weathered map,

“I’ve been a fan of Red Lip since their early days playing in the subways. Their music has gotten me through some tough times, and it’s been incredible to see them grow and evolve. The raw emotion in their songs, combined with their unique sound, sets them apart in a sea of generic pop songs. ‘Crimson Lines’ is my favorite track; the lyrics speak to me on a personal level, and the melody is just beautiful. Red Lip is not just a band; they’re a lifeline.”
