Backstory:

Required Park was formed in the summer of 2008 in the small town of Pawnee, Indiana. The band members, childhood friends Jake Jennings, Mike Randall, and Cassidy Wells, grew up together, filling their summers with music and dreams of the big stage. After high school, Jake left for New York to study music, while Mike and Cassidy chose to stay behind. However, when Jake returned four years later, their shared passion for music instantly reunited them, and thus, Required Park was born.

Their journey was not a smooth one. Required Park’s initial years were fraught with struggles, from failing to secure gigs to dealing with financial constraints. But the band stood by each other, bolstering each other’s spirit with their shared love for music. Their breakthrough came in 2015 with their hit single “Beneath the Stars” that rapidly climbed the charts, forever etching the band name in the hearts of music lovers.

Required Park is best known for their Indie Rock sound, with a touch of Soulful Blues. Their music is often characterized by deep, resonant lyrics set against the backdrop of powerful guitar chords and a soulful rhythm section. Jessica Thompson, known as “J.T.,” is Required Park’s favorite fan. For her, the band is more than just a group of musicians. Their music has been a source of comfort and strength during her hardest times. J.T. first heard Required Park while coping with a challenging period in her life. The lyrics of “Beneath the Stars” resonated with her, and she felt an instant connection. Since then, she has attended every concert and owns every album. As she puts it, “Required Park’s music is raw, real, and speaks to the soul. They somehow manage to turn the chaos of life into beautiful melodies, and that’s why they are my all-time favorite band.”
