Backstory:
Robust Door was born in the vibrant musical heart of Austin, Texas, in the late ‘90s. The founding members, Tom Nixon (vocals, harmonica), Rita Johnson (guitar, vocals), Robbie Davis (bass), and Lenny Mitchell (drums) originally met at a local music festival and instantly bonded over their shared love for rock and folk music. After a few jam sessions in Rita’s garage, they decided to form a band inspired by the eclectic mix of sounds that surrounded them in their hometown.
Tom’s powerful vocals paired with Rita’s virtuosic guitar work laid the foundation for Robust Door’s unique sound. Robbie and Lenny, the rhythm section, created a distinctive groovy base that brought the band’s music to life. Their journey from playing in local bars to performing in international music festivals is a testament to their relentless passion and hard work.
