Backstory:
Robust Loan was formed in a cramped, messy apartment in downtown Chicago in 2013. The group consisted of four friends – lead vocalist and guitarist Harry, bassist Brandon, drummer Charlie, and keyboardist Tucker – who were all either working dead-end jobs or struggling to pay off their student loans. Ironically, it was their shared financial crunch that fueled their passion for music, a passion that they used as an escape from their not-so-glamorous lives. They started jamming together after work, often extending into the early hours of the morning. A few months into their regular sessions, they realized that their collective sound was not just cathartic but also catchy and unique. Inspired by their financial struggles and a shared love for music, they decided to officially form the band “Robust Loan”.

Title:
“Repay My Heart”
Full Song Lyrics:
(Verse 1)
[C] I sold my soul to the [G] devil of debt,
[Am] Chasing dreams we both [F] had set,
[C] Now I’m stuck in this [G] cycle of regret,
[Am] With a heart that’s [F] heavy as lead.
(Chorus)
[Dm] Repay my heart, [G] repay my soul,
[C] Take back the pieces that [Am] debt stole.
[Dm] Repay my dreams, [G] repay my love,
[C] Give me back what I [Am] am made of.
(Verse 2)
[C] In the shadow of the [G] towering loans,
[Am] We found music in the [F] monotones,
[C] In the echo of the [G] night’s silent moans,
[Am] We created our [F] own tones.
(Chorus)
[Dm] Repay my heart, [G] repay my soul,
[C] Take back the pieces that [Am] debt stole.
[Dm] Repay my dreams, [G] repay my love,
[C] Give me back what I [Am] am made of.
(Bridge)
[D] Together we’ll ignite the [G] spark,
[Am] We’ll shine brighter than the [C] dark,
[D] We’ll sing until we leave a [G] mark,
[Am] Like a songbird in the [C] park.
(Chorus)
[Dm] Repay my heart, [G] repay my soul,
[C] Take back the pieces that [Am] debt stole.
[Dm] Repay my dreams, [G] repay my love,
[C] Give me back what I [Am] am made of.
Favorite Fan:
Their most dedicated fan is a man named Jerry who runs a coffee shop down the street from their apartment. Jerry was the first to give them a platform to perform, allowing them to set up their instruments in a corner of his shop every Friday night. He says, “Robust Loan’s music feels real and raw. It resonates with me on a personal level because, like them, I too have lived through the struggle of repaying loans. Their energy, their passion, and their talent are unmatched. I have watched them grow from being a small time band to a sensation in the local music scene. I am proud to be their fan and will continue to support them in their journey.”
