Rough Base

Backstory:
Rough Base began their musical journey in the heart of Brooklyn, New York in the fall of 2007. The band members, lead vocalist Mark ‘Rough’ Russo, bassist Jeremy ‘Base’ Brooks, guitarist Leo ‘Shredder’ Silva, and drummer Mike ‘Phantom Beat’ Harper, were roommates living in a dingy apartment, struggling to make ends meet. One evening they picked up their instruments, started jamming, and discovered a unique synergy. They worked various jobs during the day, and at night, they would lose themselves in their music. They began playing in local bars, quickly establishing their signature sound and attracting a loyal fan base. It was the shared struggle, the power of dreams, and their relentless tenacity that gave birth to Rough Base.

“Counting Stars in the Concrete Jungle”

Full Song Lyrics:
Verse 1:
Am F
Walking down the streets, in a city that never sleeps,
C G
Looking for a sign, a glimpse of the divine.
Am F
Living on the edge, just trying to keep the pledge,
C G
Dreams within our sight, under the city’s neon light.

Chorus:
F C
Counting stars in the concrete jungle,
G Am
We’re just four guys, humble yet ready to rumble.
F C
Playing in the moon’s soft glow, ready to put up a show,
G Am
We’re Rough Base, setting the pace, in this never-ending race.

Verse 2:
Am F
Strumming on the strings, as the night softly sings,
C G
Lost in the rhythm, in our hearts the undying anthem.
Am F
Chasing the sound, with hope we are bound,
C G
Eyes on the prize, under the vast city skies.

Chorus:
F C
Counting stars in the concrete jungle,
G Am
We’re just four guys, humble yet ready to rumble.
F C
Playing in the moon’s soft glow, ready to put up a show,
G Am
We’re Rough Base, setting the pace, in this never-ending race.

Favorite Fan:
Their favorite fan is a lady named Jenny, a waitress from one of the bars they first played in. She’s been a staple in their audience since day one. Jenny has said, “I have seen these boys grow from being the struggling musicians playing in a dimly lit bar to the indomitable force they are today. Their music speaks to the soul, it’s raw and it’s real. I love every single song, but ‘Counting Stars in the Concrete Jungle’ is a special one. It’s their journey, their struggle, and their determination that inspires me every day. Rough Base isn’t just a band for me, it’s a reminder that dreams do come true.”
