Backstory:
“Sandy Tray” was born in the humble beach town of Monterey, California, in 2007. Founding members Max “Salty” Salter and Joey “Tray” Turner grew up together, spending their summers working at a local surf shop and their winters writing songs in Salter’s garage. After a few years of jamming by themselves, they decided to form a band, inviting two college friends, Carrie “C-note” Nichols and Rex “Drum Rex” Johnson. Their deep-rooted love for their home town and their mutual passion for music have kept them together and inspired over the years.
Genre:
“Sandy Tray” is a folk-rock fusion band, known for their harmonious blend of acoustic guitar riffs, earthy drum beats, and poignant lyrics. They have an uncanny ability to craft songs that combine the laid-back vibe of the beach with the raw energy of rock and roll.
Title:
“Mermaid’s Lament”
Full Song Lyrics:
[Verse 1]
G C G D
From the sand to the sea, she watches silently,
G C G D
A mermaid in her heart, confined to reality.
Em C G D
She dreams of salty air, as she gasps in despair,
G C G D
Yearning for a life, not chained to bureaucracy.
[Chorus]
Em C G D
She sings her mermaid’s lament, under a moon crescent,
Em C G D
Washing her hopes away, with the ebbing of the current.
[Verse 2]
G C G D
Her voice a siren’s call, echoed through city halls,
G C G D
A melody of freedom, drowned by urban sprawl.
Em C G D
She craves the ocean’s touch, she misses it so much,
G C G D
Her soul trapped in concrete, against nature’s clutch.
[Chorus]
Em C G D
She sings her mermaid’s lament, under a moon crescent,
Em C G D
Praying for a wave, to sweep away her resentment.
