Backstory:
Scaly Tape was formed in the vibrant city of Austin, Texas, in the summer of 2003. The band had an eclectic mix of members, from different musical backgrounds, drawn together by the common love for creating unique and unconventional music. The original members, Ralph ‘Rusty’ Harker, a seasoned blues guitarist, and Cynthia ‘Cindy’ Drake, a classically trained pianist, met during a local jam session. Their chemistry was instantaneous, and they started their musical journey, experimenting with various genres and creating a distinctive musical style. They later recruited drummer Tim ‘Sticks’ Henderson and bassist Jenna ‘Bassline’ Thompson, completing the classic quartet.

Genre:
Scaly Tape’s genre can best be described as Psychedelic Blues-Rock. Their music combines the raw power of blues, the heavy sound of rock, and the experimental nature of psychedelic music. They utilize unconventional scales and chord progressions, and their music often carries a heavy atmosphere, filled with profound and introspective lyrics.
