Shabby Stick

Backstory:
Shabby Stick is a unique ensemble that came into being in the heart of New Orleans, Louisiana. The band members, a group of high school friends, discovered their shared love for music after participating in a local Battle of the Bands competition. Shortly after the competition, they decided to form a group of their own. Initially, they practiced in their parents’ garages, perfecting their sound and developing their unique style. Shabby Stick quickly gained local fame through word of mouth, and before they knew it, they were performing at local venues and getting calls from record companies.

Genre:
Shabby Stick’s music is a fusion of Blues Rock, Southern Rock, and Folk, with a touch of Jazz. Their sound is characterized by soulful guitar solos, raspy vocals, and a rhythmic drive that makes it nearly impossible not to tap your feet.

Full Song Lyrics:

Verse 1:
(G) Down in the bayou, (C) under the moonlight,
(G) Hear the croak of a frog, (D) feel the cool night,
(G) A hum in the air, (C) it’s a mystical sight,
(D) It’s here in the swamp where we (G) dance all night.

Chorus:
(G) Sing me a swamp serenade, (C) in the cypress’s shade,
(D) On a mossy stage is where we played,
(G) Strumming our hearts out, (C) under a weathered facade,
(D) With a shabby stick, we’ll (G) jam with God.

Verse 2:
(G) The rhythm of the swamp, (C) is steady and slow,
(G) Whispering secrets, (D) only locals know,
(G) With every strum, (C) our spirits grow,
(D) It’s the magic of the music that (G) makes us glow.

Repeat Chorus x2

Favorite Fan Testimonial:
Joshua, a truck driver from Baton Rouge, is Shabby Stick’s most ardent fan. He admits, “I’ve been following Shabby Stick since their garage days. Their music feels like home, like comfort food for the soul. It’s the perfect blend of blues, folk, and rock, with lyrics that speak directly to my heart. After a long day on the road, there’s nothing I love more than kicking back and losing myself in the rich, deep sound of Shabby Stick. Their song ‘Swamp Serenade’ is my anthem, it’s raw, real, and unapologetically Southern. Just like me.”
