Skinny Grandmother

Backstory: Skinny Grandmother is a quirky band that came to life in the basement of a Colorado record store in 2013. The band members, consisting of lead vocalist and guitarist Marty, bassist Ted, drummer Sam, and keytarist Ginny, were all employees at the store, brought together by their shared love for unconventional music and 70s vintage fashion. It was during one of their late-night jam sessions that the band was formed, inspired by an old photograph of Ted’s remarkably thin grandmother, thus the name ‘Skinny Grandmother’. They have been serving up a unique blend of sounds and styles to their growing fanbase ever since.

Genre: Indie Folk Rock

Title: “Bridges of Time”

Full song lyrics:

Verse 1: [C] She walks on the [G] bridges of time,
[Am] Wearing her [E] love like a rhyme,
[F] Tales of the past, [C] made to last,
[G] Echoing fast, in my [C] mind.

Chorus: [F] If you listen, you’ll [C] find,
[G] Wisdom in her simple [C] lines.
[F] She’s the melody, [C] in our history,
[G] Singing through the bridges, [C] of time.

Verse 2: [C] Eyes that have [G] seen the world turn,
[Am] Lessons she [E] lived to learn,
[F] Time is a river, [C] a taker and giver,
[G] In its current, we [C] yearn.

Chorus: [F] If you listen, you’ll [C] find,
[G] Stories in her weathered [C] lines.
[F] She’s the symphony, [C] of our memory,
[G] Singing through the bridges, [C] of time.

(Outro)
[F] Pay heed to the tales [C] she unwinds,
[G] She’s our Skinny Grandmother, [C] bridges of time.

Favorite Fan: The band’s favorite fan is a young woman named Emily. Emily is a high school teacher from their hometown, who has followed their journey from the very beginning. She often jokes that she is the unofficial fifth member of the band. Emily’s love for Skinny Grandmother is embedded in their lyrics. She says, “Their songs are like poetry with a pulse. They capture the beauty, the pain, and the wisdom of life in such a poignant and melodious way. Every time I listen to ‘Bridges of Time’, I feel like I’m connecting with my roots and flying on the wings of the future at the same time. It’s a magical experience. I don’t just listen to Skinny Grandmother, I live their music.”
