Backstory:
Skinny Guitar emerged from the bustling underground music scene of New York City in the late 2000s. The band’s co-founders, Carl Thompson and Joe Russo, were college roommates with a shared passion for raw, undiluted music that spoke to the soul. Influenced by the likes of The Velvet Underground and The Rolling Stones, they set out to create music that was both raw and genuine. They soon recruited bassist Amy Martinez and drummer Dave Klein, and hence, Skinny Guitar was born. Despite the challenges of working day jobs while writing and performing in small clubs at night, the band managed to release their debut album in 2012, which garnered critical acclaim for its honest lyricism and unpolished sound.

Title: “City of Broken Dreams”
Full Song Lyrics:
(Verse 1)
G D Em C
Living in the city of broken dreams, where nothing is as it seems
G D Em C
Beneath the neon lights, we’re sailing on a ship of lies
(Chorus)
G D Em C
In the city of broken dreams, we’re all trying to believe
G D Em C
In the midst of all the noise, we’re searching for a silent voice
(Verse 2)
G D Em C
Walking on the boulevard of broken hearts, where love stories fall apart
G D Em C
Amidst the concrete walls, we’re trying to find a place to start
(Chorus)
G D Em C
In the city of broken dreams, we’re all trying to believe
G D Em C
In the midst of all the chaos, we’re longing for a silent voice
(Bridge)
G D Em C
Oh, the city of broken dreams, where we’re all trying to believe
G D Em C
In a world that’s spinning fast, we’re hoping to make this moment last
(Chorus)
G D Em C
In the city of broken dreams, we’re all trying to believe
G D Em C
In the midst of all the noise, we’re searching for a silent voice
(Outro)
G D Em C
Oh, the city of broken dreams, where we’re all trying to believe
G D Em C
In this world of illusions, we’re searching for our own solutions
