Smug Blade

Backstory:

Smug Blade came into existence on a balmy summer night in 2012, in the heart of Chicago’s vibrant indie music scene. The stalwarts of the band, lead singer Jake “Smug” Henderson and guitarist Charlie “Blade” Miller, met by chance at a neighborhood watering hole. A shared love for classic rock and roll and a mutual disbelief in the banality of mainstream music led to a jam session that became the genesis of the band. They were later joined by bassist Emily “Bass Bomb” Baxter and drummer Danny “The Hammer” McNeill.

Despite their varying backgrounds, the band resonated on a shared wavelength, opting to create music that was unconventional, expressive, and unapologetically raw. Through the years, Smug Blade has evolved, leaving its mark on the underground music scene and building a loyal fanbase that appreciates their edgy, no-nonsense approach to music.

Genre:

Alternative Rock with a hint of Indie and Classic Rock influences.

Title:

“Shadows in the Alley”

Full Song Lyrics:

(Verse 1)
Am
In the alley where the shadows dance,
G
Underneath the pale moonlight’s glance,
F
I found a piece of your heart, torn and lost,
C
In the rhythm of our love’s toss and toss.

(Chorus)
G
Shadows in the alley, echoes on the wall,
Am
In every scattered whisper, I hear your call.
F
In the dust we danced, in the rain we kissed,
C
In the shadows, darling, we exist.

(Verse 2)
Am
Lies and secrets, bind us tight,
G
In the fading day and growing night,
F
With every beat, your face I see,
C
In the shadows, darling, you’re with me.

(Chorus)
G
Shadows in the alley, echoes on the wall,
Am
In every scattered whisper, I hear your call.
F
In the dust we danced, in the rain we kissed,
C
In the shadows, darling, we exist.

Outro
Am
So here in the alley, as the shadows shift,
G
Your memory, my heart will lift,
F
In the silence, your absence I miss,
C
In the shadows, darling, exists our last kiss.

Testimonial:

“There’s something about Smug Blade that just hits home. It’s not just the music, it’s the honesty and the rawness in their lyrics. The way they’re not afraid to be real in a world of artificiality. I’ve been to countless concerts and each one feels like an intimate conversation with an old friend. They make music that speaks to you, and for me, that’s what sets them apart. They’re not just a band, they’re storytellers, artists, friends, and a constant source of inspiration.”
